Portland Honors Miss USA Hometown Winner Erin Brady

Portland native Erin Brady was crowned winner of the Miss USA competition earlier this week.

Erin Brady has made her hometown proud when she won the 2013 Miss USA competition, and local officials are recognizing her achievement.

During a meeting on Thursday, the Portland Board of Selectmen signed a proclamation delcaring June 19 "Erin Brady Day," The Middletown Press reported.

Brady, 25, took home the top prize from the Miss USA contest on Sunday, beating out Miss Alabama. She now will go on to compete in the Miss Universe pageant in Russia.

A graduate of Portland High School, Brady has been getting a lot of praise from her hometown, as the Press reported in an article earlier this week how her teachers considered her a smart and likable person in class.

Brady also grew up partially in East Hampton and currently lives in South Glastonbury, where she is an accountant.
