Woman Involved In Check Scam Pleads Guilty
East Hampton was one of several Connecticut towns affected by Doris Perry's alleged involvement in fake check scam
Doris Perry, 26, of Middletown has pleaded guilty to larceny charges related to a fake check scam that involved several Connecticut towns, including East Hampton, the Middletown Press reported.
According to the article, Perry chose to plea under the Alford Doctrine, recognizing that she would avoid trial and a stricter sentence, although she "does not agree with some of the facts alleged in the case."

Perry, according to the Middletown Press, allegedly "was involved in creating and distributing" counterfeit checks, which in turn were issued to other parties by the Town of East Hampton.
The article says that Perry will be required to pay back Bank of America, where the fake checks were cashed, in full --$9,863.98-- within 34 months.
