In East Hampton, 263 'Townhomes' For Sale

The project includes 30 percent of affordable housing.

Looking for a condo? How about 263? If you’re in the market to take over a condominium development project, there’s one in East Hampton that’s for sale. All you have to do is buy it and build it.

Hampton Woods, a previously approved 263-unit “townhome” development off Route 66, just east of Bear Swamp Road, is being marketed by Prudential CT Realty for nearly $5 million.

The project is situated on a little over 63 acres at 206 East High St.

The development was proposed and is owned by developer Peter Carli and was narrowly approved by the town’s Planning and Zoning Commission in June of 2010. Under the plan, the townhomes would be built on about 14 acres and the remaining land would be kept as open space.

The project also includes a provision that 30 percent of the units be offered as “affordable housing.” Hampton Woods was developed under a state law that requires towns to accept affordable housing projects. East Hampton several years ago sought to fight such developments here, but lost. This would be the town’s third affordable housing projects.
