Carpino Congratulates Brownstone Intermediate School

State Rep. Christie Carpino (R, Cromwell) stopped by Brownstone Intermediate School in Portland recently to congratulate staff and students after their school was named a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education — one of just five schools in the state to receive the honor. Each year since 1982, federal education officials have sought out schools where students attain and maintain high academic standards. Principal Laurie Boske (left) accepted a special legislative citation from Carpino on behalf of the school. Nationwide, just 300 schools received the federal designation.
