Deadline for DMV's Teen Safe Driving Video Contest is Jan. 15

High school students can enter a PSA to promote safe driving and get in the running for $15,000 in cash prizes.

A release from the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles:

Creativity and a camera, that’s all it takes for high school students to participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles’ Teen Safe Driving Video Contest. With one week left until the contest deadline, there’s still time to create the winning 25-second public service announcement that promotes safe driving.

Contest entries can be mailed to DMV and must be postmarked by Jan. 15, 2014.  Additional information and rules can be found at www.ct.gov/teendriving/contest.

Students simply need a unique idea and a camera to film a brief video that covers the contest’s theme:  Teen Drivers: Put Your Brakes on Distractions!  The videos also must illustrate two or more of the state's teen driving laws and is open to all high-school age students.

"After watching videos from previous years of this contest, I’ve seen firsthand the talent our state’s high school students possess,” DMV Commissioner Melody A. Currey said.   “I have no doubt that teens have a unique vision and imagination to produce an entry in the time remaining and compete for contest prizes.”

Travelers, the contest's co-sponsor, awards $15,000 in cash prizes to the high schools of winning students and hosts the contest's award ceremony at its conference center in Windsor, Conn. Students on the first-place winning team will be awarded iPads awarded from AT&T.
