Several recognized for their effort in East Hampton.

At the East Hampton Board of Education meeting on Monday night, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Judith Golden recognized several members of the community who had been nominated for a Friends of Education Award.

The Friends of Education Award recognizes and honors people who have made an outstanding contribution to public education in the following categories: School Volunteer, Parent, Local Government Official, Community Leader and Legislator.

Nominations considered such things as whether the nominee could be considered a positive agent for change, has affected the cultures of school communities, has inspired others to achieve or has provided a special service above and beyond the usual service.
