Portland Students Meet with Rep. Carpino

Discuss, among other things, the inner-workings of state government.

A group of middle and high school students from Portland met with Rep. Christie Carpino at the state Capitol on Thursday for a discussion about the inner-workings of state government.

The students were in Hartford through Portland Youth Services, an organization committed to the development of a coordinated system of services and programs for youth and their families in Portland. Specifically, the students had questions about proposed legislation to bolster the state’s bullying laws—a bill that would add cyber-bullying to state statute.

Carpino, R-Cromwell, who represents Cromwell, Middletown and Portland, went on to describe the different branches of state government and talked about her efforts in the district.
