Rotary Helps Judge Young Inventors

Invention Convention was held at East Hampton Center School.

The East Hampton/Marlborough Rotary Club supports and sponsors many local projects, but there is nothing more impressive than the Invention Convention at the East Hampton Center School.

Sixteen members of the Rotary Club and students from the high school were judges for the convention on Feb. 1. We had the opportunity to listen to some very unique presentations by 4th and 5th grade students. They were judged on originality, attention to detail, practicality, adherence to guidelines and presentation of their invention.

The invention process becomes very technical and intense for the students and they are very serious in their presentations. After all of their preparation and worry, 12 students are selected to take their invention to the next level. They will have the opportunity to battle against students from all over the state when they go to UConn. Jonathan Baine is the school advisor and has done a wonderful job preparing his students for such a challenge and they all should be congratulated.  The members of the Rotary Club are proud to continually support this project with monetary help as well as judges.
