East Hampton Rallies to Defeat Hale-Ray

Bellringers improve to 10-2 on the season.

On a rainy day where it was almost certain no baseball would be played, East Hampton and Hale-Ray got their game in under the lights at Legion Field in Moodus. The rivalry game was a close one as usual, but the Bellringers came from behind to defeat the Little Noises 7-4 and run their record to 10-2.

Behind 4-3 in the fifth with two outs, Al Iannone laced a single to drive in two runs and give the Bellringers the lead for good.

"I thought it was a big spot where he had to bear down and remember his mechanics," coach Scott Wosleger said. "He has struggled a little bit recently, so it was nice to see A.I. come through."

Iannone struck again in the seventh when he laced another two out, two strike single to drive in his third run and the Bellringers seventh of the game.

That created the space they needed. East Hampton starter Adam Michaud was gutty on the mound as he kept East Hampton in the game for four innings before giving way to Marvin Gorgas. Gorgas got in a bit of trouble in the bottom half of the fifth but left runners on second and third to end the inning. After a strong sixth, he struck out the side in the seventh, dominating the middle of the Little Noises' order.
