Free Movie & Munchies: Safe Lawn Care

The Connecticut Horticultural Society is teaming up with the Portland Library to show "A Chemical Reaction," a documentary film about the movement that opposes the use of chemical pesticides on lawns.

The film was produced by safelawns.org, an organization that advocates for educating society about the benefits of environmentally responsible lawn care and gardening.

A question-and-answer session with Colchester, Conn., nurseryman and pesticide expert Scott Reil will follow the 70-minute film. He will be available to offer information on how to conserve soil health and water while developing an attractive landscape that reduces or eliminates the use of pesticides. Refreshments will be served.
