Family Fishing Day at Chatfield Hollow

Event is part of state DEP sponsored Family Days.

Department of Environmental Protection staff will join Connecticut families on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a family Fishing Day at Chatfield Hollow State Park in Killingworth.

Scheduled activities include: fish stocking (11 a.m.), fishing, seining, fish fry, fly casting demonstration, river sampling and various fishing-themed games.

The event is the second in a series of Outdoor Adventure Challenge Family Days. The Family Days are themed around 11 outdoor recreation activities (birding, fishing, hiking, biking, historic sites, boating, swimming, camping, picnicking, letterboxing and winter activities).

The Outdoor Adventure Challenge is a year-round adventure that encourages families to experience the excitement and joy of fun outdoors in Connecticut State Parks and Forests. It is part of the No Child Left Inside initiative. Introduced in 2006, No Child Left Inside is a campaign designed to reconnect children with the outdoors, showcase the recreational opportunities available in Connecticut’s 139 state parks and forests, and build the next generation of environmental stewards.

Chatfield Hollow State Park is located at 381 Route 80 in Killingworth. From Route 9: take Exit 9. Follow Route 81 south to Route 80 west and watch for park entrance signs. From I-95: take Exit 63. Follow Route 81 north to Route 80 west.
