The East Hampton Food Bank will distribute its holiday food baskets this Saturday starting at noon.
Those picking up the baskets should come to the Congregational Church at 59 Main St., in the downtown. The food bank, which is operated by volunteers, will give away baskets to 150 local needy families and 140 senior citizens who are also in need this holiday season.
The baskets will include the fixings for traditional holiday dinners, including a turkey and other foods.
Local businesses and organizations sponsor the food bank’s holiday baskets each year and the organization currently has enough food donations for the holiday. However, food bank organizers said they group is always in need of other types of donations for the area’s needy including: laundry soap, hand soap, dish soap, shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste, toilet paper, peanut butter, jelly, mayonnaise, canned soup, cereal, ravioli, salad dressing, gravy, syrup, baked beans, boxed macaroni and cheese, coffee and tea.
The food bank’s regular hours are Monday and Thursday, from 9 a.m., to noon. It is located at 240 Middletown Ave.
