The Salmon River State Forest is a popular destination for hikers, campers, picnickers and especially fisherman. The forest contains nearly 6,000 acres located in the towns of Hebron, Marlborough Colchester, East Haddam and East Hampton. In addition to its outdoor offerings, pumps allow visitors to take home some fresh water, provided, of course, you bring a container. While there, be sure to check out the historic Comstock Bridge, which spans the Salmon River. The bridge, built in 1840, is one of three covered bridges remaining in Connecticut.
