The Week Ahead: Medieval Jesters, Mediterranean Folk and Helping Honor the Troops

This week in East Hampton and Portland there are music performances, medieval jesters and a yellow ribbon tying ceremony!

Kerry Brothers Performing in Goff House Gazebo Music Series:  Come out Thursday for some music in the East Hampton village center.  The Kerry Brothers will perform as part of The Joseph N. Goff House Gazebo Music Series on Thursday from 6:30-8:30 pm. The concert will be held at the Gazebo on Center School grounds, and in case of rain, will take place inside The Congregational Church of East Hampton. 

Alex the Jester at Sears Park:  This Wednesday the East Hampton Parks and Rec Department and the East Hampton Public Library are helping the town celebrate all that is summer and summer reading season with a performance of “daring stunts, comedy acts, and amazing sight gags” by Alex the Jester. The show is open to all and will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sears Park.

Yellow Ribbon Tying Ceremony to Honor the Troops:  On Tuesday join the families of U.S. Army 1st Lieutenant Matthew Rogers and U.S. Army Specialist Kurt Schluntz in tying yellow ribbons on the tree in the East Hampton village center to show support for the troops.  The ceremony will take place at 6:30 a.m. in the village center, 59 Main St.

Take a Tour of Mediterranean Folk Music:  On Thursday patrons can enjoy a musical tour of the Mediterranean through folk dance music from Greece, Albania, Turkey, Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Italy and Romania.  This free concert from a Band Without Borders will take place at 1 p.m. at the East Hampton Public Library.
