Connecticut Magazine Highlights Three Local Restaurants

Hilltop BBQ in Moodus, The Gelston House in East Haddam and The Blue Oar in Haddam are amongst the honorees.

The Febuary 2013 issue of Connecticut Magazine will feature the Experts' Picks of the Best Restaurants and among the honorees are local favorites including Hilltop BBQ in Moodus, The Gelston House in East Haddam and The Blue Oar in Haddam.

From Connecticut Magazine's website:

Late last year, we sent out ballots to a group of 89 dining-out experts we’d put together from among reviewers, food writers and editors, cookbook authors, bloggers, and other avid diners we know to have a wide knowledge of Connecticut restaurants. We asked them to name their favorite restaurants in 25 dining categories. They responded—hungrily—and we are happy to present the results of their votes. The Top 5 finishers in each category are listed in alphabetical order and are all entitled to call themselves “Best” on our behalf. The accompanying comments come from the panelists. The runners-up—excellent, all—are included for you to perhaps try out and assess yourselves. Many other worthy establishments received votes, too, but not enough to be included. One thing is clear, however: The dining-out firmament in Connecticut is as rich as ever.

Here are the categories our local hot spots were featured in:

BEST BARBECUE:
Bobby Q's, Westport
The Cookhouse, New Milford
Hilltop BBQ Steakhouse, Moodus
Jeff's Cuisine, Norwalk
Pit Stop BBQ, New Britain

BEST OUTDOOR DINING:
L'Escale, Greenwich
Fresh Salt, Old Saybrook
Hopkins Inn, New Preston
L'Orcio, New Haven
The Fireside Tavern at Sharpe Hill, Pomfret

HONORABLE MENTION:
Blue Oar, Haddam; Rooftop 120, Glastonbury; Gelston House, East Haddam; Sage, New Haven; Abbot's Lobster in the Rough, Noank

In North Korea we have the Same old S - - T as we had with his Father and Grandfather. If they wantRead More to destroy their country, Bring it on! He is nothing but a BIG MOUTH. I feel sorry for the N. Korean people to have such a jerk as this dictator. It is too bad they don't have a good democracy.

Why exclude the crime scene photos? If those were released you would see some real gun legislationRead More passed when people saw what those bullets did to those little children. The only unconstitutional laws passed so far are the restrictions the NRA has managed to get passed that make it difficult for the government to even trace stolen weapons. When I was young the NRA taught us how to properly handle weapons. Now the NRA is more concerned with keeping their high paying jobs by feeding their members misinformation. If you are a hunter and need more than one bullet to fell your prey, you need target practice.

Agreed, all of it (except crime scene photos) . There is no prosecution to plan,no reason to keepRead More data secret . It gives the impression that people with a agenda are trying to hide something until possibly unconstitiutional laws are passed . Why no word on his medical conditions ? Does Hippa apply after death ?

All of it should be made public. Lawmakers are crafting new legislation that is going to affectRead More every person in the state. We have a right to know what these new laws are being based on.
