East Hampton Public Schools Issues Letter on Meningitis Case

This week, a letter was sent home to parents of students at the East Hampton Middle School regarding a reported meningitis case at the school.

According to the letter, a student from the East Hampton Middle School was diagnosed and hospitalized with meningitis. The letter states that the child is not suspected of having "the type of meningitis that requires antibiotic treatment of close contact."

This case of meningitis, the letter states, is not related in any way to the recent multi-state outbreak of meningitis that was associated with potentially contaminated steroid medications.
